Seriously. Why don't you?
Last week was a train wreck, this week isn’t going to be any better.
You’re working day in and day. Your family sees you maybe an hours a day.
Clients are constantly bogging you down with requests, complaints, calls, and horrible referrals that you feel compelled to take on.
So why not just quit?
Is it pride?
Are you too scared to admit defeat or throw in the towel because your family and friends may think you’re a quitter?
Or is it because deep down, you know you're onto something big…?
If you haven’t asked yourself this question at least once, then you are lying to yourself.
If you haven’t questioned this in your business, you’ve almost certainly questioned yourself in your personal life or relationships.
It’s a question that plagues EVERYONE when times are difficult.
I’ve certainly been through the slumps many times in all areas of my life! Whether it’s clients, family, Army, friendships, projects, finances… you name it!
But seriously, why don’t you quit? Ever thought about why you actually put up with a job, spouse, client, business, project, or any situation that makes things harder than they need to be?
I recently asked this question on social media, and the responses from fellow entrepreneurs were nothing short of inspiring.
"Because the pain and daily anguish of 'failure' would eat me alive from the inside. There's really no choice." — Nicholas
“Because I'm fulfilling my purpose” — Chase
Or sometimes, maybe you keep going because you’re obligated to:
"The borrower is slave to the lender." — Kevin
For others, it’s just family ♥
"Mom."
These aren't just answers. They're battle cries.
Tim made a great point about how quitting affects others around you, and not just yourself:
“Nobody quits alone! We may not be aware, but our employees, clients, subs, vendors, kids, wife, etc. are watching all the time.”
And Shawnee was even vulnerable enough to admin she had quit, and regretted it:
“I did. Everything. Because I felt like it hurt too much to keep going. And then I realized, quitting was a choice. And regardless of how much I might have been neglected, rejected, betrayed, hurt […], quitting was completely my choice. I can’t change the choices others have made. I only control my own.”
“Quitting hurt worse. And solved nothing.”
Look, entrepreneurship isn't for everyone.
Maybe you should quit. After all, it would be easier, right? No more sleepless nights. No more stress. No more disappointment.
But, why don’t you?
You didn't start this journey because it was easy. You started it because you saw something others didn't.
You had a vision. A purpose.
Remember that purpose?
It's still there, buried under the stress and the doubt. It's what's keeping you from throwing in the towel right now.
And I believe it’s important to reflect on the reasons you keep going, week after week.
This week, I want you to do something:
Think about why you’re still going. Write it down. Put it somewhere you can see it every day. And every time you feel like quitting, look at it. Read it. Believe it.
Surround yourself with people who will challenge you, but also encourage you when you are asking yourself the question.
Remember, the ones who make it aren't always the smartest or the most talented. They're the ones who refuse to quit.
So, are you going to quit? Or are you going to show the world what you're made of?
The choice is yours. But I think I already know your answer.
Now get out there and crush it.
Until Monday 💪
P.S. I would love to hear your WHY. Send an email, leave a comment, or shoot me a DM.
