Teaching is the best teacher - TMR #32
Think about all the skills you’ve learned…
Could you teach those to anyone?
From my experience, taking something you’re relatively good at and teaching it to another person is another skill entirely.
You quickly realize which parts you do not fully understand — if you cannot explain it in a manner that other can learn, do you really understand it fully?
Learn, Do, Teach
I love adopting the principle of “Learn, Do, Teach” when it comes to the skills I learn.
Everyone typically falls into the habit of learning…. and that’s it.
Some will take their learning and put it into action…
Few will ever teach others how to do it.
Just as you know that you learn MORE by doing, I’m here to tell you that you’ll learn EVEN MORE by TEACHING.
Teaching is a skill worth learning, and doing.
Teaching will allow you to put your thoughts and ideas into a logical order—just like writing.
Mastering delegation
When you learn to teach well, you can instantly be in more places than one because your ability to delegate to almost ANYONE will increase.
Very few of that tasks that you are going to do today actually require YOU to do it.
So why do we do it?
In the beginning of business, cash is limited, so we HAVE TO learn how to leverage our time.
But eventually, you have to learn how to leverage your money. And the best way to do that is by spending it on system and people to do the work for us.
But if we are unable to teach, then we hit a new bottleneck.
We end up just doing things ourselves because it is “faster.”
And yes, sometimes it is—but only if you’re counting that first time.
Each time you repeat the task, you’re digging yourself deeper and deeper into the habit of NOT delegating.
This week’s focus
This week, apply “LEARN, DO, TEACH” in every aspect of your business.
Delegate more. Get your time back. And become a true expert on the subject by TEACHING.
