Drastically improve your chance of success
Last week, I walked off the field after coaching my final game with a group of 6th-8th graders. When delivering the end-of-season huddle talk, I realized they'd just given me the most powerful reminder of my career.
It wasn't about perfect plays or flawless performances. It was about the art of the reset.
You're successful. You're driven. But ask yourself: How quickly can you reset after a setback?
On that field, I watched young athletes drop passes, commit dumb penalties, and forget plays. But the ones who truly stood out? They mastered the reset.
Reset. It means to get set, again. No dwelling on mistakes. No time for self-pity. It's about stepping back into the game with unwavering confidence, regardless of what just happened.
This isn't just a sports lesson. It's the lifeblood of sustained success in business and in life.
I've carried this mentality through every venture, every setback, and every triumph in my career. It's what separates those who have staying power from those who flame out after initial success.
Remember:
Commit the mistake.
Learn from it. Quickly.
Pick your head up.
Keep going. With the same (or greater) confidence.
The reset isn't about ignoring failures. It's about processing them efficiently and refusing to let them define you or your next move.
As leaders, as innovators, as entrepreneurs, we don't have the luxury of wallowing. The moment you drop your head is the moment someone else gains ground.
So here's my challenge to you: Sharpen your reset.
When you face your next setback - and you will - I want you to reset faster than ever before.
Feel it, learn the lesson, then move forward with renewed focus and intensity.
This is how you stay at the top. This is how you keep winning, even when the game gets tougher.
This is your Monday Reset!
Until next week,
Wes
P.S. The next time you're tempted to dwell on a mistake, imagine me on the sidelines yelling "Reset!" Because that's exactly what I'd be doing. Get back out there and run it again.
