Do you even know HOW to win!? 🏆 [TMR #25]
We've all been there - working hard, checking boxes, but not really going anywhere special…
My son recently told me about this (mindless) mini-game he plays on a game called Roblox.
The whole point of the mini-game? To run around an extremely basic virtual world collecting random swords.
The longer you play, the cooler swords you get.
sounds fun... 😐
Of course, I acted like it was way cool for his sake — but after he explained the “intricacies” of this game, I asked the kicker: "How do you win at this game?"
His response? "You don't win. You just play until you're done."
Umm, ok. 😬
Big lesson incoming:
How do YOU win?
I thought about how many entrepreneurs and business owners are essentially doing the same thing.
We show up, work hard, achieve milestones and hit numbers. But...are we just aimlessly collecting swords too?
Where's the grand purpose?
Don't get me wrong - there's beauty in embracing the journey and not obsessing over destinations. But you still need a defined vision of what "winning" looks like for you. Otherwise, you're just running in aimless circles, rudderless.
Ask yourself: Do you have a clear picture of what success looks like on YOUR terms? Not just generating X revenue or Y profit, but a deeper purpose and legacy you're working towards?
Because when you know your version of "winning", you can strategize HOW to get there:
Who to invite onto your team.
When to go hard vs when to ease off.
How to allocate resources most effectively.
It provides the guiding light.
Maybe your "win" is building a business you can pass down to your kids 🤷♂️.
Maybe your “win” is selling/going public one day to secure generational wealth. Achieving a certain lifestyle, freedom, or impact.
Doesn't matter what "victory" means to you - just get clear on it.
Purge the mindset of simply collecting random swords and slaying enemy after enemy, day after day, with no greater context.
Decide how YOU want to win, then go out and make it happen unapologetically. Put each collected "sword" achievement into that wider lens.
Build momentum and purpose.
The alternative is looking back wondering "What was it all for? I worked hard but never defined my version of success." You don't want be that person.
Craft your vision, devise your strategy, and go chase that "win" with intention and intensity. While enjoying the journey, of course. But having that clear target makes the whole adventure more satisfying.
Make this week the turning point.
